Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! I hope you all are having a splendid holiday with friends and family. This Christmas was a very nice one, everyone happy and healthy and not stressful.
Coat: Forever21
Skirt: Forever21
Fur: Vintage
Tights: Target
Shoes: Target
I received money, a sander, ironing board and a few gift cards. It's nice to have my own sander now, since I have some DIY projects I hope to start in the spring, which I will definitely share with you all!
I'd also like to take time to mention, when I was celebrating Thanksgiving with my family at the nursing home where my great grandfather lives, I saw the woman who gave me my typewriter in the nursing home hallway, where she resides also. I didn't say hello, because I wasn't sure if she'd recognize me. She also looked quite depressed and distraught. Little did I know, the day I was there, was the day her husband had passed away. I cannot imagine how it must feel to lose a spouse. Especially during the holidays. I know that death isn't the end, they are always still with you. I hope to visit her sometime in the near future, so she can have some company.
In loving memory of her husband.
I'm excited for the new year, it's always nice to have a fresh start.
New memories and new lessons.
I hope the new year is a good one for all of you, too.
Again, thank you for all of the kind words and support from all of my readers,
I really appreciate it.
Ivy

Hobnail/Milkglass/Fenton Collection

Hello!

I thought I'd share my collection of Hobnail/Milkglass/Fenton with you all! I started this collection because of Evie. She had a collection, and when I first saw this style of glassware at an antique shop, I thought they were so pretty. Our styles are very similar. So, I decided to start my own collection, starting with the 'bonbon' dish. I have been collecting this glassware ever since. I have 14 pieces in my collection so far. I'd love to find a pitcher or another vase. Here are some pictures of my collection!

My mom and I love the ones with ruffled edges.

This one my grandma said is a butter dish.
(I have dried anise in there right now!)

What's your favorite type of glassware?

Liebster Blog Award No. 2!

I have been given another award by the lovely Mrs Jaime! This is the second blog award I've been given, and am so grateful.

(Here is the first Liebster Blog award I recieved)
.   .   .   .   .   .   .

Here are the questions Lili gave me:

1 - What is your favorite film from the silver screen era?
I like a lot of them, but I love 'I Remember Mama' with Irene Dunne, and 'The Heiress' with Olivia de Havilland and Montgomery Clift.

2 - What's the number one thing from your closet you can't live without and why?
Tank tops! I have them in various colors and shades so I can wear sheer blouses without looking like a hot mess!

3 - Who is your most influential, style icon from the past and from today?
My great-grandma, Evie.

4 - What is your guilty pleasure?
I can't pass a pretty glass bottle or cute old photo in an antique store without getting my money out!

5 - What is your current obsession?
Beaded handbags and White + Black tiled baths!
6 - What is your most prized possession and how did you come about it?
Grandma Evie's Frankoma jar. It's adorable & I'm very glad it's still with my family.

7 - What famous person from the past or present do you think you look like?
Ginger Rogers, Lucille Ball and Zooey Deschanel.

8 - If you had one more day to live, how would you spend it, what would you do?
I would spend it like any other day, with my family. I don't necessarily believe in having only one life.
9 - Are you a pet lover? If so, do you own any pets?
Yes, I am a cat person. I have a dapper tuxedo cat named Henry.

10 - If you could go back in time, where would you go and why?
I'd go to a dance in 1943 with my soldier beau and dance the night away :)

11 - Who would you like to go out to lunch with from the blogging world?
This question is like asking who your best friend is! I don't have favorites, just like I don't have a BEST friend. I enjoy every vintage blogger! I'd make a tea party out of it and invite everyone!

My First Beaded Purse + Adorable Sewing Patterns!

Hello dears!

Last Saturday, the 1st, I went to a holiday open house at some antique shops. When I was there I picked up some nice items, which I will show you all! The first is a really pretty beaded handbag. It has only a few beads missing on the strap. This being my first beaded purse, I don't know the much about them. But I think the price is good for being at an antique shop. There were other beaded bags there that were also really cute and would have bought, but they were a little pricey. Here is the bag I purchased.

Isn't the design so pretty?

I'm going to see how long this 'Nobility' brand zipper has been around,
it could help date the purse.

The other items I bought are all really cute sewing patterns!

Definitely late 30's, the puffed sleeves are outrageous!

Super adorable schoolboy fashions that my future son would be wearing at all times.

1940's Pajama Pattern?! Rad!

This last snowsuit one reminds my Mom and I so much of my maternal grandpa.

Happy December!
